Jonathan Harker set out to investigate where Count Dracula’s boxes of earth had been taken. After tracking down a worker named Smollet, Jonathan learned that twelve heavy boxes had already been moved from Carfax to various locations across London. Smollet also mentioned another carter named Sam Bloxam, who had done another dusty job at Purfleet. Jonathan gave Smollet some money and an addressed envelope, asking him to send Bloxam’s address as soon as he found it. Returning home that evening, Jonathan found Mina fast asleep. She looked unusually pale and tired, and her eyes showed that she had been crying....
